Welcome
Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Joseph Leto and I am
the Operations Manager for the Central Iowa Ham Radio Emergency
Responders Network.
Our organization is made up of over 100 or so volunteers, all ham
radio operators that are dedicated to serving the public by mobilizing
large scale search and rescue & recovery operations and go where
needed.
Our established organization works closely with the National weather
services.. and the American Red Cross and local and state agencies in
an attempt to provide much needed extra search and recovery services
to aide in a large scale search and disaster recovery operation where
a volunteer based organization is needed ASAP to find lost children
and missing persons.
Since time is critical when searching for lost individuals our
organization can mobilize 25-30 individuals, 24 hours a day into the
field ASAP using our extensive radio communications network we have
built by ourselves to aide in the search and rescue operations which
are so critical n the first few hours of a missing person or child.
KJ0L is currently looking to expand to create a small, remote rescue
operations team. With the recent natural disasters that have occurred
throughout Iowa, most notably the deadly tornado that hit Woodward,
Iowa in November of 2005, it became clear that current response teams
are simply too far away to be able to assist these remote areas
quickly, when time is truly of the essence.
Our team will assist in a multitude of rescue situations, including,
but not limited to, search and rescue operations, fire rescue efforts,
natural disaster rescue and response, winter rescue assistance, and
even aid locating lost children, or loved ones..
If you would like to sign up as a volunteer for this effort like
hundreds of your fellow hams already please email radioham@gmail.com
